Founding member of Azalea Charities receives
the Lions Clubs' top honor

On December 9, 2008, in a ceremony conducted by the Lions Club of Montclair, VA, Frank R. Chichka received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Frank joins a group of individuals honored for their service to mankind and their communities. Frank was one of the original founding members of Azalea Charities and stays involved as a member of the Board of Directors and active participant in many events.

The Melvin Jones Fellowship is recognition of a commitment to humanitarian work. The fellowship is an honor given to individuals who contribute the equivalent of US$1,000 to LCIF, and persons for whom such donations are made by others. The fellowship is the foundation's highest honor and represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for the less fortunate. Melvin Jones Fellows receive a lapel pin and a personalized wall plaque in honor of their commitment to helping others.
Created in 1973, the fellowship is named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones.

The Montclair, VA Lions is a service organization dedicated to improving our community and helping others in need. Through fundraising and volunteering their time, they seek to aid the visually handicapped and hearing impaired, sponsor youth programs, and provide support to the local community. They raise funds to purchase eyeglasses, hearing aids and examinations for those unable to afford these services. They support the District 24-A sight and hearing vans to screen students at the elementary schools, provide scholarship awards to young adults demonstrating a strong commitment to community service, and also provide health and welfare assistance to the area’s needy through contributions to Prince William County’s Action in the Community through Service (ACTS), Dumfries/Woodbridge Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics, Anne Ludwig School, and St. Francis House.
