Azalea Charities Celebrates 20 Years of Support for the Northern Virginia Community and Wounded Warriors

Prince William, Virginia – Azalea Charities held its Annual Meeting on March 3, 2018, kicking off its 20th year supporting a dual mission to address the needs of our local community and Aid for Wounded Warriors. Highlighting the Meeting was the announcement of three new Board members, Danny Murrin, Robert Pomietto, and Jacob Edwards. Frank Lasch, Azalea Charities founder and Chairman of the Board renewed his fundraising goal of $5 Million for 2017-2018.

The new Board members will help Azalea Charities restructure its organization into committees to address special areas, including Aid for Wounded Warriors, digital outreach and more. According to Lasch, “We have a lot of expertise within our membership and this is a way to ensure that we channel those talents into serving our core mission for local charities and wounded heroes. We urge anyone who is interested in helping to contact us through the website.”

Azalea Charities will continue its efforts to raise $5 million. Community support will devote $3 Million to Northern Virginia charities from Arlington to Fredericksburg, including homeless shelters, food pantries, Special Olympics / special needs, Boys and Girls Clubs, cancer outreach for families, outreach to seniors, and miscellaneous needs. The $2 Million budget for Aid for Wounded Warriors encompasses VA Medical Centers, military installations serving wounded warriors and their families, Fisher Houses, service dogs, therapeutic riding center programs, athletic opportunities for wounded, caregiver families, and homeless Veteran programs.

About Azalea Charities

Azalea Charities is an all-volunteer organization that focuses on a dual mission to support community charities and Aid for Wounded Warriors both nationally and internationally. Azalea Charities is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization located in Prince William County, Virginia.

Azalea Charities appreciates a strong base of support within the community, such as Chenega Corporation’s Military Intelligence and Operations Support Strategic Business Unit (MIOS) raising over $500,000 from their annual golf tournament, and Better Homes Key Advantage Realty of Montclair, Virginia donating a percentage of profits to our cause.
