PRESS RELEASE

Azalea Charities teams up with The Paper People
to support Prince William County Chamber of Commerce’s “Tools for Schools”

Montclair, VA August 8, 2010 – Azalea Charities and The Paper People presented a gift certificate worth $1,000 to the Prince William County–Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce’s “Tools for Schools” Program.  Receiving the check for the Chamber was Bob Grasso, Member of the Chamber Board of Directors. The goal of “Tools for Schools” is to make sure that every student in Prince William County is well prepared for the first day of school.  Doug Taggart, President and CEO of Azalea Charities, says the outreach will also extend to the schools on the military bases in our area such as Quantico and Ft. Belvoir.

Sponsored by the Education Committee of The Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce, “Tools for Schools” will provide the area’s neediest students with badly needed assembled school supply kits and backpacks. Each school supply kit contains 30 items contained in a durable, padded nylon backpack. This is the third year for this program, which supplied almost 100 students in Prince William County with school supply kits and backpacks in 2009.

According to Joseph Meteyer, President of The Paper People, “The Paper People is proud to be part of the local business community as well as an approved Prince William County Vendor working with the Prince William County School System.  When Frank Lasch approached me about his ideas for helping the students and teachers in Prince William County, I was thrilled with the prospect.  One of our small business mission statement core values is that ‘we are in the community and for the community’.  As such, we look for ways to support and promote quality education for the children.  We look forward to more opportunities to work with Azalea Charities to provide school supplies for these types of endeavors.”

Bob Grasso comments, “A major factor for business to locate in Prince William County is the public school system.  PWC has a world class public school system that helps business make the decision to locate in the county. Supporting our public school system supports our business community. Thank you to Azalea Charities and The Paper People from the members of the Prince William Chamber for helping us help the students of Prince William County.”

Azalea Charities focuses on a dual mission of Aid for Wounded Warriors and community charities from Arlington to Fredericksburg.  As part of Azalea Charities’ efforts on behalf of local education, they provide teacher supplies and educational materials, support literacy programs, Partners in Education (placing newspapers in schools); and aid the Fairfax Social Services Outreach program.

Frank Lasch, Chairman and Founder of Azalea Charities, says. “One of Azalea’s core areas of community support is education.  Partnering with local companies like The Paper People helps us extend our resources to deliver supplies straight to kids who need them to help achieve a well-rounded educational experience.”
