Azalea Charities Donates $3,000 to Support the June 2012 “A Cinderella Ball”

Prince William, Virginia – Going to the prom is a big event in the life of any teenager, and every youth should have a chance for that experience.  Azalea Charities, as part of their support of local community charities, presented a check for $3,000 to The House, Inc. to help fund A Cinderella Ball, an event for students in Prince William County who face physical, emotional, or intellectual challenges or terminal illness.

The Seventh Annual A Cinderella Ball will take place on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the historic Willard Hotel in Washington, DC, and includes a dinner, concert and Ball. The House, Inc., a Woodbridge, VA based organization that gives direction to students to help them with their future lives, sponsors this annual event.  Invitations to A Cinderella Ball are a free gift for Prince William County students and their parents who deal with the challenge of a disability or life-threatening illness as well as the on-going medical complications and costs.

A Cinderella Ball was inaugurated in June 2006 for these deserving students and their families.. Months before, preparation is made for A Cinderella Closet to provide each student with his or her choice of formal attire to wear to the ball. Each family is escorted down a red carpet laid at The Willard Hotel’s Pennsylvania Avenue entrance, just steps from The White House. On each side of the red carpet, 40 marines drawtheir swords to honor the student guests as they walk into the Ball.

A check for $3000 was presented to The House, Inc. by Azalea Charities representatives Doug Taggart, President & CEO, Kevin Cheezum, Senior Vice President, Cindy Fiscko, Secretary, and Peter Robertson, Director.  Doug Taggart comments, “Azalea Charities has a special focus on youth initiatives from Arlington to Fredericksburg, Virginia.  The Cinderella Ball allows some of these truly special kids to enjoy an experience that is one of the highlights of any teenager’s life.  We’re proud to be a part of it.”

"By touching countless lives, The House, Inc. has changed the way the world treats special children through A Cinderella Ball, synonymous with care, concern and compassion.  Azalea Charities’ support will make a tremendous impact on this quality of life gift," said Helen McCormick, President and Founder of The House, Inc.
